Welcome to this month's Blog Hop featuring projects using Sale-a-Bration products. Sale-a-Bration is a Celebration time for papercrafters. It is a special sale from January-March that Stampin' Up! has every year. For each $50 you spend (before s/h & tax), you can select a free item from the special Sale-a-Bration Catalog.
My project is a 12" x 12" heritage scrapbook layout. I used these three Sale-a-Bration items:
- Hey Chick Stamp Set
- 3/8" Metallic Ribbon
- Delicate Details Stamp Set
It's important to me to scrapbook family stories so my children and grandchildren know about their relatives. Butchering chickens isn't a pleasant experience to scrapbook, but it was the reality for my mom and great grandmother to do. Here are a few close-up's of the different elements in this layout.
The chickens were stamped in Memento Black Ink on Very Vanilla Cardstock. Then they were cut out with the Stitched Framelits and the edges were sponged with Crumb Cake Ink.
I used the Hexagons Embossing Folder as a background stamp. I patted the Crumb Cake Ink Pad on it and randomly pressed it on the page to get a subtle chicken wire look.
I typed my journaling on the computer and printed it on Very Vanilla Cardstock. The cardstock edges were roughed up by using the blades from the Paper Snips. I slightly crumpled the cardstock and then sponged it with Crumb Cake Ink.
A few years ago, I had a font created for me that used my handwriting. You search on the Internet to find out how to do this. I use it for traditional and digital scrapbooking and when I "write" letters on the computer. I can type much faster than I can write, which is why I love having a personal handwriting font.
The bottom of the layout was stamped with the Delicate Details Stamp Set in Crumb Cake Ink and Black Memento Ink. A couple strands of Linen Thread were added above the lace images. A smaller journaling block from the Decorative Label Punch and the Stitched Shapes Framelits is the finishing touch to this layout.
