To me, the images in the Happiest of Days Stamp Set lean towards whimsical elegance. A bit playful and a bit stylish. Some of the sentiments are following the current trend of using two different fonts. I like that trend because it makes my eyes stop and carefully focus on each word.
The color scheme used on this card is Pool Party, Sahara Sand, Perfect Plum and Very Vanilla.
Card Base: 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" Pool Party Cardstock, scored at 4 1/4".
Second Layer: 3 3/4" x 5" Sahara Sand Cardstock. You also need a scrap piece of Sahara Sand Cardstock (1" x 5 1/2").
Third Layer: 3 1/2" x 4 3/4" Perfect Plum Cardstock
Fourth Layer: 3 1/4" x 4 1/2" Very Vanilla Cardstock. You also need a scrap piece of Very Vanilla Cardstock (1" x 2 1/4")
When designing this card, my first attempt was stamping the gifts image and coloring them in. They looked too flat. I stamped the middle gift image on a scrap piece of Very Vanilla Cardstock, colored it and cut it out with Paper Snips. The Mini Dimensionals were perfect to attach the gift image and make it a three-dimensional gift. Sometimes it is all about the little details.
This card still didn't look right to me. It needed something else. Time to take a walk through my studio and look around. There it was, hanging on the wall, the Decorative Ribbon Border Punch. I used the scrap piece of Sahara Sand Cardstock in the punch and attached it to the bottom of the second layer of Sahara Sand Cardstock with SNAIL Adhesive.
I purposely made the scrap Sahara Sand Cardstock a half-inch longer than the second layer. That way I could center it on the second layer and trim the edges with Paper Snips.
This gifts on this card begged for a three-dimensional accent piece. The Metallic Enamel Shapes and Enamel Shapes were just what they needed.
Why do the simple cards, end up taking the most time to design? Any insights you want to share with me?
