Stampin' Up! Demonstrator
When I was about eight, I started making doll clothes. This led to sewing my own clothes in junior high and high school. Some of my other creative adventures were crewel embroidery, counted cross-stitch, ceramics, flower gardening and interior decorating.
My professional career was as an executive assistant and office administrator in banking and finance. It wasn’t easy being a right-brain person in a left-brain industry. In my heart, I wasn’t happy working for someone else. I secretly dreamed of owning my own business. But there were bills to pay and two children for my hubby and I to raise, so my dream was hidden away.
Around 1990, my oldest sister from California came to visit. One of her suitcases had supplies for her newest hobby: rubber stamping. I will never forget the feeling that I had when I stamped my first card. I was an artist!
For the next seven years, I taught everyone I knew how to stamp cards. I taught art classes at a local coffee shop. I started selling cards and other craft items at boutiques and craft fairs.
In 1997, empty nest syndrome hit me. Our daughter was out of the house and our son would be graduating soon. When my brother showed me a Stampin’ Up! catalog from his co-worker, I looked it over and ended up signing up. My dream of owning my own business began.
I love anything handmade and unique, so Stampin’ Up! has been perfect for me. I’m passionate about creating handmade greeting cards, scrapbooks, gift items and home décor items. The friendships with my team of demonstrators, other demonstrators around the world and with my customers are what I treasure the most.
