If you haven't traveled with Stampin' Up! before, it is a treat because they pamper demonstrators and their guests. Here's a summary of our Getaway Weekend trip to Washington, D.C.
Last Thursday, a luxury bus picked us up at the Dulles airport. We were taken to the beautiful Mayflower Renaissance Hotel. I think there is more gold used in decorating that hotel than in the U.S. Mint.

We had a delicious breakfast buffet every morning with other demonstrators. The tables were decorated in a patriotic theme.

We had the option of participating in a dinner one night at local D.C. restaurant with a few demonstrators and their guests. We took this option and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. I forgot to have the waiter take a group photo. [insert sad face]
One day, there were exclusive tour buses available for demonstrators and their guests to visit the top places to see in D.C. The experienced tour guides on the buses had valuable tips and information for us.

After climbing the stairs to the Lincoln Memorial, I turned around to leave and saw this breathtaking view.

The highlight of our trip was a tour inside the White House. A huge thank you to Senator Amy Klobuchar's office for approving us with less than three months notice (it usually takes six months or more). We got goosebumps seeing first-hand where our nation's history has taken place.
One day we decided to take a taxi to Old Town in Alexandria, Virginia. There is a free trolley that goes from one end of the town all the way to the Potomac River. There are historical sites, quaint boutiques, antique stores and restaurants along the trolley route. Besides some shopping and lunch, we enjoyed the vintage boat show along the Potomac River and touring the Torpedo Factory Art Center.

There was nothing better than coming back to our hotel room each night and finding a beautifully decorated package on our pillows. The first night was four cupcakes from DC Cupcakes. The second night was the Many Merry Stars Simply Created Kit from the upcoming Holiday Supplement. The third night was a book filled with stunning photographs of Washington, D.C.

Yesterday the luxury bus picked us up from our hotel and took us to the airport. Then we became "normal" travelers, as Stampin' Up! was done pampering us. There wasn't a pillow gift on our bed when we got home last night. There wasn't a breakfast buffet when we got up this morning. There weren't 100+ smiling demonstrators to talk with. Sigh...I'm listening to the washer and dryer as I type this blog post...it's back to reality time!
It is only with your support that I can earn a Weekend Getaway Trip from Stampin' Up! I am truly touched that you have selected me as your demonstrator. I am blessed to have each one of you in my life!!!
