Handmade Friendship Card using the Free As a Bird Stamp Set

 

Welcome to my first blog post using products from the 2019-2020 Annual Catalog! Woo Hoo!!! It has been so much fun to use new products! I paired the Free As a Bird Stamp Set with the Garden Lane Designer Series Paper. Even though there is a Bird Ballad Designer Series Paper that coordinates with the stamp set, I went outside of the box and used a different Designer Series Paper.

 

 

Directions:

Card Base:  5 1/2" x 7 7/8" Mint Macaroon Cardstock, scored at 4 1/4".

First Layer:  Two pieces of 2" x 5 1/2" Garden Lane Designer Series Paper; one adhered on the outside left and one on the inside right of the Card Base.

 

 

Second Layer: 3 1/4" x 4" Soft Suede Cardstock. Attach with Dimensionals.

Third Layer:  3" x 3 3/4" Whisper White Cardstock. Stamp image in Black Memento Ink Pad and color with Stampin' Blends.

 

Use a scrap of Mint Macaroon Cardstock and stamp the sentiment in Black Memento Ink Pad. Punch out with the Timeless Label Punch. Use Paper Snips to trim off the left side of the punched out cardstock. Attach it to the Third Layer. The final touch is to add a double bow made out of Linen Thread. Attach with a Glue Dot.

Last weekend, we spent a day at our daughter and son-in-law's camper. It was so fun and relaxing! We sat outside on their deck and played some board games. The favorite one was the Flaming Kittens Card Game. (I'm not making this up.) This week one of my Stamp Clubs met on Wednesday night. Now, I'm prepping for my team meeting on Sunday. Creating with the Beautiful You Stamp Set

 

Did you know the Beautiful You Stamp Set will be in the 2019-2020 Annual Catalog? Yippee! Today's project also uses two retiring products:  the Share What You Love Designer Series Paper (DSP) and the Tranquil Tide Cardstock. 

 

 

This card is a perfect example of #simplestamping. A piece of the colorful DSP coordinates with the Basic Black and Tranquil Tide Cardstock.

 

Directions:

Card Base:  4 1/4" x 5 1/2" Tranquil Tide Cardstock

First Layer:  5 1/4" x 8" Whisper White Cardstock, scored at 4"

Second Layer:  2" x 5" DSP

Third Layer:  3 1/4" x 3 1/4" Basic Black Cardstock. Attach with Dimensionals.

Fourth Layer:  3" x 3" Whisper White Cardstock. Stamp the image in Black Memento Ink and color with the Rich Razzleberry Stampin' Blends.

This has been a fun week. Monday night was our middle grandgirl's orchestra concert. Tuesday was Dan's birthday and that evening was a card swap. Wednesday evening was another card swap. Yesterday and today, our youngest grandgirl is spending the day with us. She spends a lot of time in my studio creating, but also spends time playing board games with Dan. She has become a competitive Monopoly player to the point, she wins because Dan is bankrupt. This is amazing to me because our children refuse to play Monopoly with Dan as adults. They claim they were traumatized by him bankrupting them when they were children. The tide has turned at our house! Hahaha!

Creative Inking Blog Hop - Goodbye Forever

 

This month's Blog Hop participants are creating projects using retiring products that will not be in the 2019-2020 Annual Catalog. My project is a card that features two retiring stamp sets: (1) All That You Are and (2) Marbled Background. I sure have enjoyed using both of these stamp sets.

 

The Petal Pink Ink on the Marbled Background Stamp was darker than I wanted, so I covered it with Vellum Cardstock. That was a quick fix!

 

Directions:

Card Base:  5 1/2" x 8 1/2" Whisper White Cardstock, scored at 4 1/4".

First Layer:  3 7/8" x 5 1/8" Soft Sea Foam Cardstock

Second Layer:  3 3/4" x 5" Whisper White Cardstock. Use Petal Pink Ink on the Marbled Background Stamp and stamp on the cardstock.

Third Layer:  3 3/4" x 5" Vellum Cardstock. Attach to the Second Layer with SNAIL Adhesive only in the center.

Fourth Layer:  Scrap of Whisper White Cardstock. Stamp the flower image in Black Memento Ink and cut out with Paper Snips. Color with the Petal Pink and Soft Sea Foam Stampin' Blends Combos.

Fifth Layer:  Scrap of Soft Sea Foam Cardstock. Punch out with the 1 3/4" Circle Punch. Attach with Dimensionals.

Sixth Layer:  Scrap of Whisper White Cardstock. Stamp the sentiment in Black Memento Ink and punch out with the 1 1/2" Circle Punch.

 

 

The final touches to this card are:

• Make a bow from the 5/8" Whisper White Polka Dot Tulle Ribbon and attach with a Glue Dot.
• Use Wink of Stella on the large flower image.
• Add six Pearl Jewels to the Third Layer.

Creating the Waterfront Stamp Set

 

Today's project is a tropical paradise card using the Waterfront Stamp Set. There is so much versatility when creating with this stamp set. I'm happy that it will be included in the 2019-2020 Annual Catalog. 

 

The weather in Minnesota will almost be tropical today. I may be stretching the truth a bit, but after the winter that wouldn't end, it will seem tropical. [insert a huge smile]

 

Directions:

Card Base:  5 1/2" x 8 1/2" Early Espresso Cardstock, scored at 4 1/4".

First Layer:  4" x 5 1/4" Lemon Lime Twist Cardstock, placed inside the Swirls & Curls Embossing Folder and put through the Big Shot.

Second Layer:  3 1/4" x 4 1/4" Early Espresso Cardstock

Third Layer:  3" x 4" Whisper White Cardstock, You will need three Sponge Daubers to create the sky.

 

1. Press the Sponge Dauber in the Crushed Curry Ink and drag across the bottom of the cardstock.
2. Press the Sponge Dauber in the Pumpkin Pie Ink and drag across the top of the cardstock. Press the Sponge Dauber in the Pumpkin Pie Ink again and press and it on the cardstock to create a sun image.
3. Press the Sponge Dauber in the Lemon Lime Twist Ink and drag across the middle of the cardstock. 

 

 

• Use the long narrow image multiple times in Crumb Cake Ink to create the sand at the bottom of the cardstock.
• Use Early Espresso Ink to add the palm tree images.
• Use a scrap of Whisper White cardstock and color it with a  Sponge Dauber in the  Crushed Curry Ink. Stamp the sentiment in Early Espresso Ink and punch it out with the 1 3/8" Scalloped Circle Punch. Attach with Dimensionals.

Last weekend, we spent Saturday with some of Dan's sibilings. Sunday, we celebrated Mother's Day with  brunch at a local restaurant. The big surprise was watching our oldest grandgirl D-R-I-V-E her mom and sister to and from the brunch. If you could have seen the shocked look on my face! Wasn't I just rocking that baby girl to sleep? In six months, she will be a licensed driver. Yikes! Today is Stampin' Up!'s worldwide Day of Service. Using the Well Said Stamp Set & Well Written Framelits

 

There are times when Stampin' Up! designs different products that go together. The Well Said Stamp Set and the Well Written Framelits are an example of the current trend where sentiments combine a stamped image along with a framelit image.

 

There are 51 images in the Well Said Stamp Set.

 

 

Combine them with the 24 images in the Well Written Framelits and you have endless sentiments to use on your papercrafting projects.

 

 

The color scheme on today's card uses Powder Pink (a retiring In Color), Smoky Slate and Whisper White. It also uses the Country Floral Embossing Folder, which was a Sale-a-Bration free item. Guess what? It is in the 2019-2020 Annual Catalog!

 

 

Directions:

Card Base:  5 1/2" x 8 1/2" Powder Pink Cardstock, scored at 4 1/4".

First Layer:  4" x 5 1/4" Whisper White Cardstock. Place inside the Country Floral Embossing Folder and put through the Big Shot.

Second Layer:  1 1/4" x 4" Smoky Slate Cardstock.

Third Layer:  1" x 4" Powder Pink Cardstock. Stamp the sentiment in Smoky Slate Ink.

 

Use a scrap of Smoky Slate Cardstock and place the "love" from the Well Written Framelits on it and put it through the Big Shot. The final touch is to tie a knot in the 5/8" Whisper White Polka Dot Tulle Ribbon and attach it with a Glue Dot.

 

This is really a simple card to make. The two different styles of sentiments adds such such a unique touch to this card.

I have been spending any spare time I have working on card swaps using products from the new Annual Catalog. Little by little, they are getting finished. On Monday, I finally got outside and worked in the flower gardens. Sunshine and the smell of fresh dirt was wonderful. It is still too cold to put the annual plants out, but hopefully the weather will change. Today, I have some volunteering to do and then a much needed haircut. I'm hoping for a warmish Wednesday.
