How to Create a Daisy Wreath on a Greeting Card

 

Most of you have probably heard of a daisy chain, where you weave the stems of daisies together. My project today is similar, but it is a daisy wreath. Did you know there is a daisy image in the Daisy Lane Stamp Set that doesn't fit the Daisy Punches? I think this image may be slightly neglected in the excitement to use the Daisy Punches with the stamp set.

 

This daisy wreath card is using the color scheme of Bermuda Bay, Poppy Parade and Whisper White. The secret to a realistic paper wreath is having layers. 

 

Directions:

Card Base:  5 1/2" x 8 1/2" Poppy Parade Cardstock, scored at 4 1/4".

First Layer: 4" x 5 1/4" Whisper White Cardstock. Place inside the Subtle Embossing Folder and put through a Die Cutting Machine. Tie a double strand of Whisper White Solid Baker's Twine around the bottom and make a bow. Here are some tips for stamping the daisy wreath images.

• Take a Post-it Note and use the 2" Circle Punch on it. Place this circle in the center of the First Layer. This will be a temporary guide to help you make your stamped images somewhat even.
• Ink up the daisy image with Bermuda Bay Ink. Stamp it at the center top, center bottom and the right and left sides of the Post-it Note circle. Clean the stamp.
• Ink up the daisy image with Poppy Parade Ink. Stamp it in between the Bermuda Bay daisies. It is okay if they overlap. Remove the Post-it note.
• On a piece of Whisper White Cardstock, stamp four Bermuda Bay daisies and four Poppy Parade daisies. Use Paper Snips to cut them out. Put Dimensionals on the back side of the daisies. Set them aside.

Second Layer: On a scrap of Bermuda Bay Cardstock, place a small circle from the Stitched Shapes Dies and put it through the Big Shot. Attach to the center of the wreath on the First Layer.

Third Layer:  On a scrap of Whisper White Cardstock, stamp the sentiment in Bermuda Bay Ink. Use the 1 1/2" Circle Punch to punch it out. Attach to the Second Layer.

 

Fourth Layer:  To create the layered look of the wreath, attach the four Bermuda Bay daisies and four Poppy Parade daisies one at a time, slightly off-set and slightly overlapping them. Ta-da! You have created a daisy wreath!

It Starts With Art Stamp Set from Stampin' Up!

 

A fun stamp set for you and your crafty friends to use is the It Starts With Art Stamp Set. It has the perfect images and sentiments that crafty friends would appreciate.

 

 

The Rococo Rose 1/2" Scalloped Linen Ribbon gave me the coordinating colors of Crumb Cake, Rococo Rose and I added Whisper White. The Button Button Embossing Folder and the 2019-2021 In Color (Rococo Rose) Designer Series Paper were perfect to use on this card.

 

Directions:

Card Base:  5 1/2" x 8 1/2" Crumb Cake Cardstock, scored at 4 1/4".

First Layer:  4" x 5 1/4" Crumb Cake Cardstock. Place inside the Button Button Embossing Folder and put through a Die Cutting Machine.

Second Layer:  2 1/4" x 4" piece of the 2019-2021 In Color (Rococo Rose) Designer Series Paper. Attach to bottom of the First Layer. Wrap a 4 1/4" piece of the Rococo Rose 1/2" Scalloped Linen Ribbon around the front and attach on the back.

Third Layer:  Scrap of Rococo Rose Cardstock. Place a scalloped Layering Circle Die on the cardstock and put through a Die Cutting Machine.

 

Fourth Layer: Scrap of Whisper White Cardstock. Place a Layering Circle Die on the cardstock and put through a Die Cutting Machine. Stamp the image and sentiment in Black Memento Ink. Color the image with the Light Rococo Rose and Light Crumb Cake Stampin' Blends. Attach with Dimensionals.

Our dryer got repaired on July 16 and is working fine. Our washer stopped working on July 19 and it isn't repairable. We ordered a new washer, but it won't be here until August 6. We had a mishap in the downstairs bathroom the other morning. The chain got caught inside the toilet stopper, so we had some flooding, which left our laundry room tub full of every bathroom towel we own.

 

Since I was going to our daughter's house that morning to chauffeur the grandgirls to orchestra camp, I filled some plastic garbage bags with these towels and did laundry at her house. Woo hoo!!! How to Make a Dutch Door Card

 

Do you remember the first time you saw a Dutch door? Did you think it was the greatest invention, like I did? 

Wouldn't you know, a papercrafter came up with a handmade card design called a Dutch door. Quite clever!

 

Just like a real Dutch door, when it is closed, it looks like a normal door. So it is with this card.

 

This card features the Daisy Lane Bundle, the Daisy Punch and the 2019-2021 In Color Designer Series Paper. My intent with the flowers was to make them look more like zinnias than daisies.

 

The Dutch door on this card doesn't want to stay closed.

 

Directions:

Card Base:  4 1/4" x 5 1/2" Purple Posy Cardstock

Dutch Door: 2 1/4" x 11" Purple Posy Cardstock, scored at 5 1/2". Adhere one half of this cardstock to the back of the Card Base.

You can barely see the seam on the back of the card.

 

First Layer:  2" x 5 1/4" 2019-2021 In Color Designer Series Paper. Attach to the front of the Dutch door.

Inside Layer:  4" x 5 1/4" Whisper White Cardstock. Stamp sentiment with Purple Posy Ink in the upper right corner.

 

• Using scraps of Purple Posy Cardstock, punch out three large daisies and three medium daisies.
• Use a bone folder to curl the ends up.
• Adhere the two daisies together with Glue Dots.
• Dip a Sponge in the Purple Posy Ink Pad and lightly press in the center of the flowers.
• Add Clear Faceted Gems in the center of the flowers.
• Use Dimensionals to add the completed flowers to the front of the Dutch door.

Creative Inking Blog Hop - Love It Chop It - Designer Series Paper Love

 

 

This month's Blog Hop participants are creating projects using Designer Series Paper. That's right! We love it so much, we are chopping it up and using it. No more hoarding Designer Series Paper! My project uses the Garden Lane Designer Series Paper and the Daisy Lane Stamp Set. Plus, I used the rectangle Heirloom Frames Dies & 3D Embossing Folders for the first time.

 

The colors I used on this card are Whisper White, Mint Macaron and Soft Sea Foam. That color combination is directly from a sheet of the Garden Lane Designer Series Paper. No thinking on my part; just copying what Stampin' Up! selected. I'm good with that!

 

 

Directions:

First Layer: 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" Soft Sea Foam Cardstock, scored at 4 1/4".

Second Layer: 4" x 5 1/4" Garden Lane Designer Series Paper

Third Layer: Use Soft Sea Foam Ink and stamp the leaf image on a 2" x 3" piece of Whisper White Cardstock. Set it aside until the Fourth Layer is completed. 

Fourth Layer: Use the Heirloom Frames (Rectangle) Die on Soft Sea Foam Cardstock and cut out on a Die Cutting Machine. Place the cardstock rectangle inside the Heirloom Frames (Rectangle) 3D Embossing Folder and put through a Die Cutting Machine. Attach the Third Layer to the inside of the embossed frame with SNAIL Adhesive. Attach the embossed frame to the Second Layer with Dimensionals.

 

 

Embellishment #1: Use the small daisy image and stamp it once in Mint Macaron Ink and once in Soft Sea Foam Ink on a scrap of Whisper White Cardstock. Punch out with the Medium Daisy Punch. Attach the two daisies together with a Glue Dot. Attach to the Fourth Layer with a Dimensional. Place a green Gingham Gala Adhesive-Backed Sequin in the center of the daisies. Place a small Pearl Basic Jewel in the center of the Sequin.

 

 

Embellishment #2:  Use a scrap of Whisper White Cardstock with a Stitched Nested Labels Die and put through a Die Cutting Machine. Stamp the sentiment in Mint Macaron Ink. Attach with Dimensionals. The final touch is to attach a Whisper White Baker's Twine bow in the corner with a Glue Dot.

A Shabby Chic Thinking of You Card

 

If you have been following my blog for a while, you know I love shabby chic and my favorite sentiment is "thinking of you". This card has both! Woo hoo! I paired the Good Morning Magnolia Stamp Set and the Buffalo Check Background Stamp and then used the Country Floral Embossing Folder. Are you wondering if this card will be one hot mess?

 

 

By adding the shabbiness to the different card elements, and using soft colors, it all goes together.

 

Directions:

Card Base:  5 1/2" x 8 1/2" Crumb Cake Cardstock, scored at 4 1/4".

First Layer:  4" x 5 1/4" Crumb Cake Cardstock, placed inside the Country Floral Embossing Folder and put through a Die Cutting Machine.

Second Layer:  1 1/4" x 5 1/4" Whisper White Cardstock. Use Petal Pink Ink on the Buffalo Check Background Stamp. 

Third Layer:  Scrap of Soft Sea Foam Cardstock on a scalloped Layering Circle Die and put through a Die Cutting Machine.

Fourth Layer: Scrap of Whisper White Cardstock on a Layering Circle Die and put through a Die Cutting Machine. Stamp the sentiment in Black Memento Ink.

Fifth Layer:  Stamp two magnolia images with Black Memento Ink on a scrap of Whisper White Cardstock. Cut out with the Magnolia Memory Die put through a Die Cutting Machine. Color with Stampin' Blends.

 

The edges of the Second through the Fifth Layers were sponged with Crumb Cake Ink to shabby them up. The final touches are:  Wink of Stella on the two magnolia flowers and a Petal Pink 5/8" Organdy Striped Ribbon.
