My idea was to design a serene card that could be used for any occasion. The color scheme uses a subtle color (Soft Sea Foam) with two neutrals (Soft Suede and Very Vanilla). I used the Itty Bitty Greetings Stamp Set for the sentiment.
Card Base: 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" Soft Sea Foam Cardstock, scored at 4 1/4".
First Layer: 3 3/4" x 5" Soft Suede Cardstock. Place it inside the Subtle Embossing Folder and put through a Die Cutting Machine. I love the slight texture this adds to the card.
Second Layer: 1 3/4" x 3 3/4" Very Vanilla Cardstock. Stamp the both the tree images in Soft Suede Ink across the cardstock.
Third Layer: Scrap of Soft Sea Foam Cardstock. Place a Stitched Nested Labels Die on the cardstock and put through a Die Cutting Machine.
Fourth Layer: Scrap of Very Vanilla Cardstock. Place a Stitched Nested Labels Die on the cardstock and put through a Die Cutting Machine.
Fifth Layer: Stamp the deer image in Soft Suede Ink on a scrap of Very Vanilla Cardstock. Use Paper Snips to cut out the image. Attach with Dimensionals to the Fourth Layer.
Sixth Layer: Use a scrap of Soft Sea Foam Cardstock and the 1 1/8" Scallop Circle Punch. Attach with Dimensionals.
Seventh Layer: On a scrap of Very Vanilla Cardstock, stamp the sentiment and punch out with the 1" Circle Punch and attach to the Sixth Layer.
I struggled with this card, so I'm going to share some tips I learned.
- Originally, I stamped the deer image directly on the Very Vanilla Stitched Nested Label Die (Fourth Layer). I wasn't pleased with how it looked. That is when I decided to add more dimension to the card by cutting out the deer image and using Dimensionals to attach it to the Fourth Layer.
- My first thought was to place the two Stitched Nested Label Dies (Third and Fourth Layers) in the center of the card and put the sentiment on the inside of the card. Again, it didn't grab my eye because it was too symmetrical. By slightly moving the Stitched Nested Label Dies to the left and adding the sentiment to the right, B-I-N-G-O! I had a winner!
- Sometimes making a few slight changes can definitely improve how a card looks.
This was another one of my Stamp Share for Leaders' swap cards. Poor quality photo, but I love seeing all 20 cards on display!
