My papercrafting projects tend to follow the four seasons and the holidays throughout the year. Today's project is definitely an Autumn card. Most of the colors are from the Regals Collection (Pumpkin Pie, Crushed Curry and Old Olive) and two from the Neutrals Collection (Whisper White and Basic Black). The Rooted in Nature Stamp Set has three different types of tree images that work perfectly as a silhouette.
Silhouettes in papercrafting are the same as silhouettes in photography. The image or focal point is black with a colorful background.
Card Base: 4 1/4" x 11" Crushed Curry Cardstock, scored at 5 1/2"
First Layer: 2 3/4" x 5" Old Olive Cardstock and 1" x 5" Pumpkin Pie Cardstock
Second Layer: Three 1 1/4" x 1 1/4" Basic Black Cardstock. Set these aside until the Third Layer is done.
Third Layer: 2 1/2" x 4 1/4" Whisper White Cardstock
You will need the Pumpkin Pie, Crushed Curry and Old Olive Markers. Use the brush end of the marker to color on the Clear Block B. Use one color at a time and press the inked up Clear Block on the Third Layer. Don't forget to clean the Clear Block when changing colors. Use a Black Memento Ink to stamp the tree silhouette.
Place SNAIL Adhesive on the back side of the Third Layer. Center the three Basic Black Cardstock squares on the back of the Third Layer. Attach it to the First Layer with Dimensionals. Normally, I would have used a 1" x 4 3/4" piece of Black Cardstock on this card. It looked too plain, so I used three squares to add some visual interest.
The final touch is to add a Designer Element to the Third Layer. Now you know how to create an easy and colorful background for your papercrafting projects.
