Every month when I design cards for my Stamp Clubs and classes, I honestly could make all of the cards using flower images from different stamp sets. I love flowers, but realize not everyone loves them as much as I do. One of my go-to stamp sets that is non-flowery, is the Waterfront Stamp Set. It is fun to design a unique landscape/waterfront image with it. This stamp set is easy to use because the stamp images are clear and it is simple to stamp them exactly where you want them.
Amid all the COVID-19 news, making a handmade card with a serene image, gives a sense of peace to the person who creates the card and also the person who receives the card. That is a win-win! I used the Absolutely Argyle Embossing Folder with this card to add some straight textured lines to contrast the stamped images.
Card Base: 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" Basic Black Cardstock
First Layer: 5 1/4" x 8" Whisper White Cardstock, scored at 2" and 4". Fold at the 4" line first. Then at the 2" score line, fold the cardstock inwards and adhere with SNAIL Adhesive. Adhere the unfolded cardstock side to the Card Base.
Second Layer: 1 3/4" x 5" Gray Granite Cardstock. Place inside the Absolutely Argyle Embossing Folder and put through a Die Cutting Machine. Adhere to the folded part of the First Layer.
Third Layer: 3 1/4" x 4" Basic Black Cardstock. Attach to the Second Layer with Dimensionals.
Fourth Layer: 3" x 3 3/4" Whisper White Cardstock. Here is how I made the scenery:
- Ink up the large triangle blob image in Balmy Blue Ink and press at the top of the cardstock. Turn the stamp upside down and stamp again (without re-inking), lining it up with the first stamped image. Then, slightly move the stamp over a bit and stamp again.
- Ink up the double blob image in Gray Granite Ink and stamp where the light and dark Balmy Blue blobs meet.
- Ink up the three trees image in Black Memento Ink and stamp on the Gray Granite image.
Fifth Layer: Use the 1 1/2" Circle Punch on a scrap of Gray Granite Cardstock. Attach to the Fourth Layer with Dimensionals.
Sixth Layer: Stamp the sentiment on a scrap of Whisper White Cardstock using Black Memento Ink. Punch out with the 1 3/8" Scalloped Circle Punch. Attach to the Fifth Layer with SNAIL Adhesive.
Almost any sentiment can be substituted for the one I used. That's the beauty of papercrafting; we can personalize our projects for the recipient.
